Proposed Motion(s)

1. That Council receive the Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan, in principle, as presented and;

2. That Administration be directed to develop Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan Implementation Strategies for consideration and decision through the Strategic Planning and Budget processes.

Body

Administration Recommendations

Administration supports the recommendations as presented.

Purpose

Administration is presenting the final draft of the Parks, Recreation and Culture Master plan to Council's consideration.

Summary

Parks, Recreation and Culture staff, along with consultants from Stantec and McElhanney Consulting Services have been working on the Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan since September of 2015.  Due to a variety of scope changes, and some additional circumstances outside of our control, the project has taken longer than anticipated.  However, the process was a thorough one which included a very detailed public engagement plan, providing multiple opportunities and methods for input from residents, stakeholder groups, staff and Council.

Should Council accept the Plan as presented, Administration would begin to develop an implementation strategy for consideration and decision through the Strategic Planning and Budget process.
