Purpose
The proposed Policy C-PD07 Naming of Subdivisions, Parks, and Trails provides a coordinated and consistent framework for the naming and re-naming of subdivisions, parks, and trails within Parkland County.
Summary
Administration reviewed the County's existing policies on the naming and re-naming of subdivisions, parks and trails. This included a review of policies PD-007 Subdivision Naming or Re-Naming and RP 013 Naming of Parks. As a result of the review, Administration consolidated both polices into Policy C-PD07 Naming of Subdivisions, Parks, and Trails.
Administration is also recommending under policy C-PD07 the establishment of a Names List to serve as a list of Council approved names for future subdivisions, parks or trails. The list will serve as a registry that will be referenced by Administration in the naming of subdivisions, parks or trails. The list is intended to publicly promote prominent County residents, unique landforms, and County heritage. The Names List also provides residents with the opportunity to be included in the naming process. Procedures assocated with the Names List are found in the attached C-PD07-1 Naming Procedures which are being forward to Council for information purposes.
