Purpose
To provide Council with an update on the Technical Growth Study.
Summary
Administration retained B&A Planning Group in July 2017 to complete a Technical Growth Study for the County. The purpose of the Growth Study is to identify future growth options for the County and to assist Council and Administration in prioritizing the County's preferred approach to growth.
The Technical Growth Study is currently in Phase 4. Phase 4 involves the preparation of the final (preferred) growth strategy for the County and the preparation of recommendations for future growth. Phase 4 also involves the completion of a fiscal impact assessment which will inform the study's final recommendations. The fiscal impact assessment will illustrate the costs and benefits of the preferred growth strategy, further detailing the costs and benefits of development in specific areas including the County's country residential areas and proposed growth hamlets.
Preliminary Study findings have informed the work on key County projects including the draft Municipal Development Plan and Hamlet Reinvestment Strategy. Study findings will also inform work on future hamlet area redevelopment plans and the update to County area structure plans. Administration intends to present the final Technical Growth Study to Council at the August 22, 2017 Council meeting.

Technical Growth Study findings will assist the County in completing several initiatives in the Parkland County Long-term Strategic Plan including the completion of the County's Hamlet Reinvestment Strategy.
