Purpose
To provide Council with the final Wabamun Lake Sub-Watershed Land Use Plan and revised Action Plan for approval.
Summary
In July of 2014 Administration began work on the Wabamun Lake Sub-Watershed Land Use Plan. The Plan was completed in November 2016 and provided guidance on the development of future land use planning and environmental policies found in the Municipal Development Plan, Bylaw 2017-14. The Plan also informed the completion of other County plans and policies identified in attachment 2 (WLSUP Factsheet). Since the completion, Administration has also revised the Wabamun Action Plan to ensure actions reflect current initiatives being undertaken by the County and its stakeholders.
Administration last presented the Land Use Plan and revised Action Plan to Council at the March 13, 2018 Council meeting. At that meeting, Council requested additional information be provided to the Action Plan. Administration has undertaken the requested changes by providing information on the implications for completing or not completing identified actions, and identifying information on project resourcing (Department lead and approximate hours to project completion). The revised Action Plan is found in Attachment 3.
Strategic Plan/Policy/Legal/Staff Implications:
Approval of the Wabamun Lake Sub-Watershed Land Use Plan and the revised Action Plan will ensure report and project findings are implemented into future County operations and future plans, studies and reports.
