Proposed Motion

That Council appoint Avelyn Nicol as a public member to the Community Sustainability Committee effective April 25, 2018 for a two-year term.

Administration Recommendation

Administration supports the proposed motion to fill a public member vacancy on the Community Sustainability Committee.

 

Purpose

A vacancy on the Community Sustainability Committee occurred when a public member's term expired. In order to fulfill the Terms of Reference of the Community Sustainability Committee, it was appropriate to recruit interested public members for interviews and appoint a suitable candidate to participate in serving on the committee.

 

Summary

Parkland County had received notice from a public member who's term was ending April 25, 2018 that they wish not to serve another term.  Parkland County commenced recruitment to fill the vacancy February, 2018 by advertising in the local newspapers, website, and social media.

 

Seven public member interviews were conducted on April 26, 2018, by Mayor Shaigec and Council Members AnnLisa Jensen and John McNab.  One public member interview was held on April 30, 2018 by Mayor Shaigec and Council Member John McNab.
