Administration Recommendation
Administration supports that the Council Code of Conduct Bylaw 2018-05 receive both second and third readings, as presented.
Purpose
Bill 20, Municipal Government Amendment Act, 2015 came into force on October 26, 2017. An amendment of the Municipal Government Act, Section 146.1 is that Council must, by bylaw, establish a Code to govern all councillors equally, by July 23, 2018. Administration has prepared Council Code of Conduct Bylaw 2018-05 accordingly.
Summary
Bylaw 2018-05, Code of Conduct Bylaw received first reading on May 8, 2018. At this time, Administration is recommending both second and third readings of the bylaw. The municipality will then be in compliance with Section 146.1 of the Municipal Government Act.
