Municipal Government Act Update

Purpose
Parkland County is required to take a number of actions as part of the Modernized Municipal Government Act (MGA).
Summary
Most of the changes contained in three (3) MGA Review amending bills and their associated regulations came into force on October 26, 2017.
Remaining amendments and associated regulations have come into force in phases throughout 2018; however, some compliance deadlines are in 2019 and 2020.
Current status of this project is on target and this update is to ensure Council is aware of the status of the project.
Next Steps
Administration will continue to work on achieving compliance and any will seek direction from Council on any policy direction.
