Title

PUBLIC HEARING - 9:30 a.m.

Proposed Road Closure Bylaw 2018-28

(Undeveloped Portion of Range Road 25 North of Township Road 512)

Proposed Motion

That Bylaw 2018-28 receive first reading.

Body

Administration Recommendation

Administration supports the proposed motion.

Purpose

To close a portion of road allowance for the purpose of sale and consolidation into adjacent lands.

Summary

An application has been received by the owner of SE-18-51-01-W5 for the closure and sale of a portion of the eastern adjacent undeveloped road allowance. The road allowance, if closed and sold, will be used to gain access to the northern portion of the applicant's lands. Due to the topography of the parent parcel, the applicant determined that the road allowance provides the best route of access with the least amount of environmental disturbance.

Alberta Transportation and Alberta Environment & Parks (AEP) have been consulted on the application and were requested to respond with any concerns. They have no concerns to the closure and sale of the road allowance provided that any improvements completed within the road allowance are inspected upon completion by AEP. The applicant is aware of AEP's requirement and plans to work within their guidelines.

An internal County circulation was completed with no concerns identified by County Administration. The adjacent landowners (SE-17-51-02-W5) have been notified and provided a letter stating they do not object to the proposed road closure.

Strategic Plan/Policy/Legal/Staff Implications

Section 22 (4) and Section 606 of the Municipal Government Act.

Financial Impact:
