Title

Lake Wabamun Informal Access Closure Engagement Update

Proposed Motion

That the Committee of the Whole receive the Lake Wabamun Informal Access Closure Engagement update for information, as presented.

Body

Purpose

To update Committee of the Whole on upcoming engagement events relative to the closure of informal access points on the south side of Lake Wabamun.

Summary

With the upcoming construction of the boat launch on the south side of Lake Wabamun, Parkland County will close informal access points along the Lake when the launch is open and operational to preserve and protect the lakeshore, while ensuring local residents have the access to the lake that they require.

From June 16-20, the Parks and Recreation department is conducting engagement sessions with residents who live in close proximity to the informal access points.

The purpose of the engagement sessions is to remind residents of the decision to close all undeveloped access points to Lake Wabamun and to gather local resident input with respect to specific access strategies for our residents at each access point.
