Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to consolidate several different awards programs into one Parkland County program with a consistent, simplified application, adjudication and awards process.

Summary
This Policy was first reviewed by Committee of the Whole on July 2nd, 2019. Members identified some concerns regarding definitions and eligibility. Administration has made revisions to address the concerns; these revisions have been highlighted in the attached Track Changes document.

Parkland County currently has several different awards programs that are all managed and administered in different ways. These include the current Awards of Excellence Program, Sustainability Awards Program, Agricultural Bursary Program and the Recognition of Community Associations (Volunteer of the Year) program. The intent of each is to recognize Parkland County residents who have distinguished themselves in various areas that benefit the community. Each has had its own application, adjudication and awards process. Currently, different levels of information are required for the different programs and the awards themselves are given out in different ways; some at Council, some at events.

The goal of the revised policy is to simplify and consolidate these programs into one program that has a common and consistent application, adjudication and awards process. The categories have been condensed to make things simpler and easier to follow for those wishing to recognize an individual, group or business.
