Title

11:00 a.m. Appointment - Shared Investment for Shared Benefit (SISB) Workshop

Bill Sutherland, Consultant

Proposed Motion

That Committee of the Whole participate in a facilitated discussion regarding regional shared investment for shared benefit as it pertains to Parkland County.

Body

Administration Recommendation

Administration is of the opinion that further discussion and understanding of the principles and impacts of the Shared Investment for Shared Benefit Task Force would be beneficial for Parkland County Council as well as the residential and business communities.

Purpose

The SISB Task Force, under the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Board (EMRB), has been established and public meetings will commence in October 2019.

Summary

The SISB Task Force members have participated in a number of closed meetings starting in the spring of 2019 to establish the foundations and parameters of the Task Force going forward. Before the Task Force begins meeting publicly in October 2019, it is important for all of Council to have the opportunity to discuss their perspectives on shared investment for shared benefit at a regional level, including what SISB means for Parkland County, how the County will action any recommendations put forward by the Task Force, and what principles are critical for success of this initiative.

Strategic Plan/Policy/Legal/Staff Implications:

It is reasonable to expect that the SISB will have future financial implications for Parkland County depending on the nature and scope of recommendations passed down by the Task Force.
