Blueberry Community League, Sustainability Grant - Major Capital Request

 

Proposed Motion

That Council approve the Blueberry Community League Sustainability Grant - Major Capital request in the amount of $33,815 for the 2020 budget, as presented.

Administration Recommendation

Administration supports the Blueberry Community League request. This grant will be matched with community funds to replace flooring and lighting in the hall. These projects were identified as part of the 2019 Facility Condition Assessment Report, and will improve the hall's useability and attractiveness for renters.

 

Purpose

As per Policy C-RP03, requests submitted under the Sustainability Grant - Major Capital are to be approved by Council.

 

Summary

Blueberry Community League (BCL) is a very active community league hosting numerous events, weddings, reunions and tournaments and is home to a number of reoccurring programs including playschool, youth groups and exercises classes.  BCL is committed to maintaining their facilities and planning for the future and have created a priority list for hall maintenance using the 2019 Facility Condition Assessment Report (the report) as a guideline. BCL have identified two areas of focus for 2020; the replacement of the resilient flooring, and lighting throughout the facility.  Please see attached Administrative Report.
