That administration be directed to present to Council information regarding services provided by the RCMP and the County Municipal Community Peace Officer Program.

Administration supports the proposed motion, as presented.

 

Purpose

At the September 8, 2020 Council meeting, Councillor Kobasiuk presented a Notice of Motion that at the September 22, 2020 Council meeting, a motion will be presented that administration be directed to present to Council information regarding services provided by the RCMP and the County Municipal Community Peace Officer Program that keep our community and its residents safe.

 

Summary

There are many challenges facing Parkland County and its residents regarding policing, crime and safety.  Recent Provincial changes now have rural municipalities, including Parkland County, paying for the policing services provided by the RCMP.  Given these challenges and changes, Councillor Kobasiuk is seeking information and updates from the RCMP and Parkland County Enforcement Services on the programs and services they provide to keep our community safe.
