Purpose
To provide the Committee of the Whole with an update on the Acheson Industrial Area Structure Plan Update - Phase 1 activities. This includes updating the Committee of the Whole on the completion of the draft plan and findings from public engagement events to date.
Summary
On September 1, 2020, Administration provided an update to the Committee of the Whole on work completed. This included a review of existing policy and gap analysis, internal department review and preliminary stakeholder engagement. Additionally, the Committee was briefed on emerging items from that review, such as the new document layout and proposed policy areas (i.e. infill development and local plans).
This project status update provides the Committee with an overview of public engagement completed to date and presents the draft Acheson Industrial Area Structure Plan for information.
Strategic Plan/Policy/Legal/Staff Implications:
The draft Acheson Industrial ASP aligns with the County's Long-Term Strategic Plan "2040 and Beyond" pillars for strategic economic diversification, responsible leadership, complete communities and respected environment. Additionally the draft Acheson Industrial Area Structure Plan aligns with the County's Municipal Development Plan Bylaw 2017-14.
The Area Structure Plan will not require referral to the Edmonton Metropolitan Region Board prior to third reading.
