Purpose

Administration is providing a status update on the Transportation Master Plan (TMP).

Summary

In February of 2020 McElhanney Ltd. was retained to complete a TMP for Parkland County; the project is to be complete by Q1 2021.  The project is currently at the end of Phase 2, “Where Do We Want To Go?”, and is heading into the final Phase 3, “How Do We Get There?”

The purpose of this Council meeting is to:

1.                     Provide an update on what we have heard so far and trending priorities that have come out of both the public and internal administration.

2.                     Present and confirm road classifications; arterial, collector and local. 

3.                     Present and confirm road classification overlays; goods movement route, agricultural route, active transportation route and explore parkland route.

4.                     Present and seek feedback on preliminary strategic directions and actions; Regional and County Integration, Capital and Operational Investments, Road Design and Service Guidelines, Improve Transportation Safety, Prioritize Goods Movement and Encourage and Enhance Active Transportation.

5.                     Present the next steps forward as we move into Phase 3 - “How Do We Get There?”
