Summary

Many municipalities have experienced significant financial impacts due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Government of Alberta and the Government of Canada are providing operating funding support to municipalities through the Municipal Operating Support Transfer (MOST). This funding is provided as part of the Safe Restart Agreement.

This program will support municipalities by funding incremental costs and reduced revenues associated with the pandemic and actions taken in response to it.

The County received $3,255,110 in total funds, of which a portion was utilized in the 2020 fiscal year. Administration is requesting that the remaining funds be allocated as follows:

1. $100,000 to accommodate remote work initiatives and staff requirements.

2. $440,000 to upgrade information technology infrastructure in support of County operations during the pandemic.

Any funds not required for the items above will be reallocated to a purpose within the conditions of the grant agreement.
