Purpose
Council approved Agricultural Services Policy C- AG001in 2020 and existing agriculture policies require rescinding.
Summary
Council adopted Agricultural Services Policy C-AG001 in May, 2020. There are a number of dated policies that are being recommended to Council to rescind. The policies are being presented to Committee for information and consideration prior to requesting a decision from Council in May. These policies are publicly available and cause confusion for residents as the policies do not align with operational practice or current program offerings. Agriculture Services has consulted with the Agricultural Service Board on rescinding these policies and there were no concerns raised by the Board.
The following actions are being recommended for the Agriculture Policies:
Policy C-AG01 Agricultural Rental Equipment - rescind Policy. Develop Procedures to reflect current operational practice.
Policy C - AG02 Clubroot Management - rescind Policy. Develop a Pest Surveillance and Management Directive and Procedures to reflect current operational practice.
Policy C-AG03 Shelterbelt Trees - rescind Policy. No further action required as programs referred to in policy no longer exist.
Policy C-AG04 Roadside Seeding - rescind Policy. No further action required as roadside seeding standards are included in engineer design standards.
Policy C-AG06 Coyote Control - Private Land and/or Grazing Reserves - rescind Policy. No further action required as policy is redundant to the Agricultural Pest Act.
Policy C-AG07 Ground Squirrel and Gopher Control - County/Private Land - rescind Policy. No further action required as policy is redundant to the Agricultural Pest Act.
