That Council direct Administration to send a letter to the Provincial Government and Rural Municipalities of Alberta (RMA) outlining mill rate and tax concerns and to request a meeting to discuss these issues.

Purpose
To send a letter to the Provincial Government and RMA to request meetings to address concerns regarding mill rate and tax concerns.
Summary
In a recent meeting held with area rural municipal government representatives to discuss mill rate and tax concerns, four main issues came forward:
a) uncollectible taxes through the oil and gas sector;
b) readdressing the need for school tax on machinery and equipment;
c) depreciation of underground assets, and;
d) the need for a split non-residential mill rate.
Each municipality is being asked to submit letters to the Provincial Government and RMA to outline these concerns and request a meeting to discuss each of these issues.
