Administration Recommendation
Administration has reviewed the Phase 1- Technical Growth Study and supports the information presented. The Phase 1 - Technical Growth Study will be used as a tool to support the Phase 2 - Policy Development of the Municipal Development Plan Project.
Purpose
The Phase 1 - Technical Growth Study provides valuable information which will be used to support conversations with the public and provide direction to administration as policies for the Municipal Development Plan Project are being drafted.
Summary
Parkland County's Municipal Development Plan is being updated to create a clear vision for the County that responds to regional and economic changes that have occurred since the last major update in 2017. To support the Municipal Development Plan Project, a Technical Growth Study was completed and will be used as a tool to support policy development as Phase 2 of the Municipal Development Plan Project begins.
The Phase 1 - Technical Growth Study merges technical analysis with input from the public and County leadership to provide a preferred growth direction for the County. The recommendations provided within the Technical Growth Study will be used as a tool to support future growth opportunities in the County while highlighting the characteristics that make Parkland County unique. The Technical Growth Study is technical in nature and is non-statutory.
Historical Information:
The previous Parkland County Technical Growth Study was completed in 2016. The outcomes of that study were not used for the completion of the previous Municipal Development Plan and are now outdated.
