Administration Recommendation(s)

Administration supports the adoption of Bylaw 2016-12 (Highvale End Land Use Area Structure Plan). The Highvale End Land Use Area Structure Plan will provide policy direction for the redevelopment of the Highvale mine and surrounding lands post reclamation. Adoption of Bylaw 2016-12 will replace the existing Highvale End Land Use Area Structure Plan Bylaw 28-97.

Purpose

Council has directed Administration to update the Highvale End Land Use Area Structure Plan.


Summary

In May 2015, Parkland County began work on updating the Highvale End Land Use Area Structure Plan (ASP) Bylaw 28-97. The updated Highvale End Land Use ASP will provide the County with an updated future land use concept for the plan area, updated transportation and recreation policies, policies to protect the environment, and policies to support the Hamlet of Keephills.

Bylaw 2016-12 conforms to the strategic priorities outlined in Strategic Plan 2016-2020.
